Richelieu Rock

If you are lucky, you will see whale sharks near this seamount off the west coast of Thailand near the border with Burma. You will definitely see lots of sea life. We had spawning cuttlefish on the rock and a juvenile whale shark just down-current. Horseshoe-shaped Richelieu Rock (Hin Plo Naam) is in the Andaman Sea about 200 km northwest of Phuket. It is part of the Koh Surin Marine Park, about 18 km east of Surin Island. The limestone pinnacle rises from the sea floor at a depth of about 50 m to the surface at low tide.
