AvShalom

Soreq Cave is in the AvShalom Nature Reserve in the Judean Hills west of Jerusalem. The limestone cave was discovered in 1968 when dynamiting at a nearby quarry tore away a rock face. The formations are lit by muticolored lights which we found rather garish, but the cave formations are completely pristine and intact. While there are many caves in Israel, where much of the bedrock is limestone, this is the only one that is open to the public.
